 Scott McLeod Executive Director

Scott McLeod has over 20 years Senior Management experience in the area of Association Management and has worked for such industry associations as the Alberta Roadbuilders’ & Heavy Construction Association, the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society and the Alberta Ready Mixed Concrete Association.

Scott also has extensive experience in the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution and has taught and lectured in the areas of negotiation, mediation and arbitration. He has provided training or counsel to such organizations as the Alberta Government, Justice Department of Canada, Correctional Services of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and the Alberta Teachers’ Association to mention a few. Scott McLeod has also been heavily involved in a wide array of professional and community volunteer activities which, in part, includes the following:

Federal and Provincial Task Forces and Committees:

• Member, Provincial Government Task Force which was responsible for the development of a Funeral Services Act for the province of Alberta - Alberta Consumer and Corporate Affairs
• Worked with the Alberta Law Reform Institute on the development of a new Arbitration Act for the province of Alberta.
• Member, Citizens’ Advisory Committee - Correctional Service of Canada
• Member, Outside Review Committee – Edmonton Institution
• Member, Crisis Observation Team - Edmonton Institution Mr. McLeod’s educational background is primarily in the area of Business Administration (NAIT & U. of A.), Human Resources Management (U. of A.) and Association Management (Canadian Society of Association Executives.)

 

Amber Sieben, Administrator

Mrs. Sieben joined CARMA in September 2010 as the Executive Assistant/Event Coordinator, Mrs. Sieben’s job title has been changed to Administrator from the previous job title of Executive Assistant/Event Coordinator. This change was made to better reflect her wide range of duties and responsibilities within the association, her competence, and also made to better reflect her status within the association and in dealings with external stakeholders.  Mrs. Sieben has close to ten years of experience in the administration and event planning industry, most recently in the role of Sales and Catering Coordinator for the Holiday Inn on 67th Street.  In addition to her role as Sales and Catering Coordinator, she was the Administration Manager at Ashley Furniture Homestore. 

Mark Burggren, P. Eng. (Ret.), Bsc. Eng., Senior Advisor

Mr. Burggren is a native Albertain, born in High River and raised in the Peace River Country, Edmonton and Calgary, with over 43 years of project engineering and manufacturing management experience.  He is a graduate mechanical engineer (with a petroleum emphasis) from the University of Alberta.

Mr.  Burggren started his career at the CIL Polyethylene plant in Edmonton, and his path of achievement led him through the following industries and sectors:

  • Polyethylene resin manufacture
  • Carbon bed adsorption solvent recovery process
  • Electrographic paper high-speed off-machine coating
  • Food product flexible packaging manufacture
  • Paper extrusion coating and rotogravure printing
  • Non-woven polypropylene fabric manufacture
  • Personal care disposable product manufacture
  • Aerospace carbon fiber composite manufacture

The last 30 years of Mr. Burggren's experience was with three employers in the USA, Crown Zellerbach, Weyerhaeuser and Toray Composites (America).  Mr. Burggren's most recent 15 year industry assignment as Sr. Vice President - Operations and Board Member was with a high-tech Japanese-owned company in Tacoma, WA. 

Mr. Burggren is passionate about the importance of manufacturing to an economy, and the importance of productivity enhancement, innovation and implementation of best practices to our Alberta manufacturers.
